What to you think of taking wedding photos? Stressful? Fun?  The best part of the wedding altogether?

From my experience as a wedding photographer, taking wedding photos is enjoyable when the wedding photos are planned!

Here are my tips on making sure that you are prepared when it is time for your photo session:

Prepare the ideal location

First, is there a place that you have in mind where you would like to have your photos taken before or after the wedding? Was there a location you saw on Pinterest perhaps that you would like to recreate? This is your dream wedding is up to you!

An element to consider is the ambiance/ feeling of the wedding. This would mean to consider. Would you like to have brighter pictures outdoors or have a more romantic feel during the sunset?

Make a wedding a timeline

There is one crucial element that will help you be the most prepared for your wedding- a timeline! A timeline is basically a guide for you to know what is happening during this special occasion so that you know what to look forward to at every hour of the day.You can refer to my previous blog post about why having a timeline is so important! By having a timeline, you, your family and event planners know when the photoshoot will take place and where. This will ensure that your wedding photo session is well prepared.

Have a shot list prepared!

To make sure that the photoshoot will be as structured as possible, it is best to have a shot list prepared.

This is what the photographer will take pictures of during the event. In terms of what to include, you can mention specific locations. You can also give them an idea of who will be in the picture. You an be as detailed as letting them know who will be in the group photos, who will be standing next to who, and where the photo will be taken.

Gather everything you need for the shoot

Something that you cannot forget is having everything you need to get ready for the photoshoot. This could mean double checking all outfits, making sure all wedding accessories are there. Depending on the location and the timing of the photoshoot, the ladies will most likely need to touch up for the shoot, so it’s definitely a good idea to bring your make up! When everything is there, you won’t need to worry about where anything is This definitely take off the pressure from you.

Preparation all together is the key to a successful photo session with your wedding photographer.

Hope these tips help! All the best.
