/  Photography   /  Tips: Rainy Day Wedding Photos

As a wedding photographer, I have attended many weddings with rain, both during the ceremony and during the banquet. And the reactions have been very diverse. In some of them, the gloomy gray of the sky seems to be contagious to the attendees, although not usual. Because, far from what it may seem, you can take the positive side of a rainy day and celebrate a different and fun wedding. And get good pictures, too!

So much so that some couples prefer to get married in winter or in times when there is a greater likelihood of rain so that their wedding has that special touch. And in those cases it is best to be prepared: from the type of dress, decoration or even the reserved property, adapting every detail to the rain, so that the bride and groom and their guests are not caught off guard.

As I said, everything is a matter of attitude! Do not treat the rain as an element that can ruin your big day, take advantage of it for an unforgettable session. In addition to having great results, you can have a blast. If it rains during your session, it’s time to let loose. Have fun in wet clothes or use something like an umbrella to dance in the rain. I will always recommend, communication with your wedding photographer as it will be essential to create a unique atmosphere. Photos are memories that last, so, with good planning, the rain can become your best ally.

Wet bride, lucky bride!

You will want to make sure that your guests are comfortable too. Giving an umbrella to all the guests is the most practical thing to do. And this has to be thought of, strategically. From the point of view of professional wedding photography, it is usually recommended that it is transparent, to be able to recognize people in any situation. Don’t forget this little detail!

While every detail must be taken into account during the preparation process of a wedding, it is even more important to do so for a wedding with rain in sight. Aspects such as the bride’s hairstyle and make-up must be considered. And the use of interior decoration materials that will not be damaged when wet. Be careful with carpets, for example. Anything that can be stepped on or get wet should be removed or replaced with dark colors, if possible.

And that’s it! Rain is just rain. We just have to be cautious in case it accompanies us on the wedding day, but it cannot take away a bit of the joy of that day.
